PSYCHOSOCIAL FACTORS INFLUENCING LEARNING DIFFICULTIES IN ENGLISH AMONG SECONDARY SCHOOL STUDENTS IN BOKARO DISTRICT

ABSTRACT

This study presents a psychosocial study conducted to examine the learning difficulties in English faced by secondary school students in Bokaro District. The study aims to develop diagnostic tests to identify reading, writing, and spelling disabilities in English among seventh-grade students. It also aims to determine the number and percentage of students with these difficulties and explores the psychosocial factors contributing to their learning challenges. The descriptive survey method is employed in this study, and the population consists of all students with learning disabilities in English in the selected schools of Bokaro District. Based on teacher observations, purposive sampling is used to identify 300 students with learning difficulties. Diagnostic tests, including Reading Disabilities/Difficulties Diagnostic Test (RDDT), Writing Disabilities/Difficulties Diagnostic Test (WDDT), and Spelling Disabilities/Difficulties Diagnostic Test (SDDT), are developed to assess students’ difficulties. Statistical techniques such as mean, standard deviation, and t-test will be utilized for data analysis.
