ABSTRACT
This study examines the intricate interplay of political narratives in Assam through the themes of kingdom, townsman, and diaspora. By analyzing historical texts, contemporary political discourse, and sociocultural dynamics, the research highlights how the concept of the kingdom has evolved and its implications for local governance and identity formation. The townsman represents the urban population’s aspirations, struggles, and their role in shaping political landscapes in Assam. Meanwhile, the diaspora’s influence is explored as a significant factor in the state’s political dynamics, emphasizing the connections between the Assamese diaspora and their homeland. This analytical approach sheds light on the multifaceted relationships between these themes, revealing their contributions to Assam’s political identity and governance. The findings aim to provide insights into the historical and contemporary challenges faced by the region, contributing to the broader discourse on regional politics and cultural identity.
