ABSTRACT
Organic farming has gained popularity recently everywhere, especially in developed and developing nations. Organic farming is a modern concept that combines science, innovation, and tradition. The purpose of this study is to provide an overview of the performance and current status of organic farming in India. This study is based on secondary data. Secondary information has been collected from many websites, research papers, reports and articles. Compound annual growth rate (CAGR) and mean have been used for data analysis. Over the past 10 years, organic farming systems have gained more and more attention as a result of their apparent ability to provide certain solutions to the issues facing the agriculture industry. The results show a fluctuating trend in area and production during the year 2005 to 2022. The overall organic area and number of organic producer have increased at the rate respectively: 11 and 18 per-cent compound annual growth rate (CAGR). The results show India grows organic products and exports them outside the country. If the Indian government promotes organic farming among farmers, it might significantly improve agricultural performance. In addition to non-governmental organizations’ assistance Government organizations should provide subsidies, tax exemptions, and training to framers to facilitate the adoption of new techniques.
