ROLE OF WOMEN IN INDIA’S STRUGGLE FOR FREEDOM

ABSTRACT

Now-a-days they are in trouble, they are struggling with their identity crisis, their freedom, and their obeisance is on take. The harsh reality of society is that somewhere they are on top and some where they are under the boots of patriarchy. Can’t we save the prestige of “Bharatmata”. Let us go 200 years back and take a look on women of that time during British-Raaj. Role of women in India’s struggle for freedom is unforgettable. The role of women in freedom struggle is extremely significant and they also participated in Indian struggle for Independence.

In Indian struggle for freedom there was not only role of the men but Indian women had played great role. They strengthened the movement by providing their energy and contribution to men campaign of the freedom. The contribution of women in freedom struggle is significant they also participated in Indian struggle for freedom. The list of great women whose names have taken down in history for their dedication and service of India’s freedom struggle .Lakshmi Bai is a great women was an example for all independence movement. Begham Hazrat Mahal had played a major role during India’s first war of independence. Madam Kama unfolded the first national flag in Germany in 1907. She declared “the Flag is of Indian.

Kasturaba Gandhi was a leader of women’s Satyagrah. Aruna Asaf Ali played an outstanding role in the historic Quit India Movement in 1942. The main objective of this paper is to define the role of women in freedom struggle.
