HUMAN RIGHTS VIOLATIONS IN JAMMU AND KASHMIR

ABSTRACT

This paper will try to take an overview of the violations of human rights in Jammu and Kashmir. It entails a sort of account taking of the various agencies involved in the conflict. I would like to clarify that this paper won’t be going into the history and origins of the conflict, though will try by way of an introduction to place the paper in a larger context. Also, the paper will leave out the recent developments in the area which despite appearances have not been able to solve the issue of human rights violation. The paper would be a sort of cataloguing of the various players and their impact on the people of Kashmir. The consequences of the actions and counter actions are bloody on both sides, irrespective of which side one finds oneself on.
