IMPACT OF E-NAM ON PRICES AND ARRIVALS OF MAJOR AGRICULTURAL COMMODITIES: A CASE STUDY OF MEHAM APMC IN HARYANA

ABSTRACT

The present study has been carried out in Meham APMC of Rohtak district in Haryana. The present study assesses the market profile and status of e-NAM in Meham APMC of Rohtak district. The study also examines the arrival and prices pattern of major agricultural commodities before and after implementation of e-NAM in the study area. The study used both types of primary as well as secondary data. The information related to the market profile and status was collected for the year 2020-21 while secondary data used for examining the prices and arrival pattern of major agricultural commodities of selected APMC and others required were collected from 2019-20 and 2020-21. To analyse the data tabulation, simple percentage method and percentage change have been used. The turnover of APMC for the study period was Rs. 1620654548. The expenditure of APMC was calculated more than income during the study year due to inclusion of component development expenditure in total expenditure. The impact of e-NAM in case of arrivals of commodities wheat and mustard was found negative while the overall impact of e-NAM in case of arrivals of commodities estimated positive. The study highlighted that prices of all the major commodities of APMC was increased in 2020-21 over the year 2019-20.
