ABSTRACT

Wear is caused by two components corrosion and erosion. The corrosion wear is caused by the environmental reactions while the erosion wear is caused due to the exposure to the high velocity gases and moving liquids. It has been found that not all coating methods should be used as there are coatings available that can reduce the fatigue characteristics of the base material and do not provide sufficient performance improvements. Erosion wear is a process of continuous removal of material from a target surface due to repeated impacts of solid particles. This paper throws some insights on the erosion wear analysis of Al-Si polyester abradable coating at high temperature from theoretical point of view.
