Page No. : 11-16

ABSTRACT

Woman entrepreneur is regarded as a person who accepts a challenging role to quench her ambition to become something, such as to be economically independent by making suitable adjustments in both family and social life. Little research has been done in India to probe into questions like, what motivates women to become entrepreneurs? What kind of enterprises would women like to take up? What are the support systems available for them? How do they go about managing their business? What discriminations and obstacles they face and how much success they experience? Can an attempt is made to answer these questions? One realizes that at this stage these questions have been only partially answered. So there is a need for this research. A literature review is a simple summary of the sources, but it usually has an organizational pattern and combines both summary and synthesis. It gives a new interpretation to the old material and combines any new with old interpretations. The literature review may evaluate the sources and advise the reader on the most pertinent or relevant ones. Review of literature is a stepping stone which ensures the credibility of the writer in his or her field. Literature review of the present research also provides a solid background for women entrepreneurs and their challenges.
