GROWTH BEHAVIOUR OF AREA, PRODUCTION AND PRODUCTIVITY OF GUAVA IN DISTRICT SONIPAT AND HARYANA

ABSTRACT

Horticultural sector has contributed 20 per cent share of area out of total food grain and 30.4 per cent share of GDP in agricultural sector. In the present study examined the growth trends of area, production and productivity of guava crops in Sonipat and Haryana. This study is based on only secondary data and data were collected from Horticulture Department, Government of Haryana for the time period 1990-91 to 2018-19. The results productivity of guava in district Sonipat revealed a fluctuating behaviour with the noticeable margins out of total 29 years selected for study, a total of 15 years saw positive annual growth rates while the 14 numbers of years presented negative annual growth rates. Maximum Growth was indicated in production of guava in the year2008-09 and 2011-12 in Sonipat and Haryana respectively.
