Coronavirus has come as an obstacle for the world market and
especially for Indian economy. According to the Ministry of Statistics, India’s
growth fell to 3.1%, in the fourth quarter of the financial year 2020. The
Chief Economic Adviser to the Government of India commented to the effect that
this dip is obviously because of the pandemic situation around the world. As
India had been witnessing an economic slowdown even before the pandemic, this
paper will also try to glance at the pre-pandemic situation to put in relief
the pandemic effect clearly. According to the World Bank as well the virus has
aggravated the pre-pandemic slowdown. The present research paper looks at the
specific effects of the virus on Indian workers’ and especially, migrant
workers.
