CROPPING PATTERN OF JIND DISTRICT: AN OVERVIEW

ABSTRACT

Availability of irrigation facility due to implementation of various irrigation projects, improved credit facility with expansion of banking system, easy access to market information, setting of many sugar factories in the district are some other reasons for changes in cropping pattern in the study area. But the changed attitude of farmers about crops to earn profit may result in high prices of food grains, vegetables and fruits and threatening to the food security of common people. Therefore, both central and state governments have to incentivize the production of various agriculture produce which are necessary for the livelihood of the people. At the same time governments must also encourage the eco-friendly organic farming for sustainable development agriculture from the point of view of both producer and consumer.
