ABSTRACT

Internal security in India is an essential pillar for sustaining national stability, safeguarding democratic values, and ensuring the rule of law. The administration, encompassing various law enforcement agencies, intelligence bodies, and policymaking institutions, plays a central role in managing internal security threats, which include terrorism, insurgency, organized crime, and civil unrest. This paper examines the crucial role of the Indian administration in maintaining internal security, highlighting the structural and operational functions of law enforcement, intelligence gathering, legal frameworks, and inter-agency coordination. Despite the significant strides made in strengthening internal security, the administration faces several challenges, including resource constraints, political interference, evolving security threats, and bureaucratic inefficiencies. The paper also explores remedies and recommendations, such as improving coordination, investing in technology, and enacting legal reforms, to bolster the effectiveness of the administration in addressing these complex challenges. The findings suggest that a comprehensive and proactive approach, coupled with political will and institutional reforms, is necessary to enhance internal security management and ensure a stable, secure environment for the nation’s development and governance.
