A live-in relationship is an arrangement in which two people agree to live together under the same roof without marrying. It is the conduct of a long-term partnership, analogous to marriage. The term live-in relationship refers to a relationship that is devoid of commitments and duties, unlike a traditional marriage. It is not recognized under the Hindu Marriage Act of 1955 or any other statutory law. The Supreme Court of India acknowledged live-in relationships as lawful relationships and not as forbidden relationships. This paper tries to understand the concept of Live-in-Relationship in India. This paper is based on secondary data. Magazines, online journals, newspapers, research articles, and books are used for data collection.
