NETWORK MARKETING IN INDIA: A GROWTH STORY WITH CHALLENGES AND OPPORTUNITIES

ABSTRACT

The current research focuses on a theoretical comparison of the two types of marketing (conventional and network). It examines how network marketing works and contrasts classic and cutting-edge models. Every company in today’s very competitive industry requires some kind of marketing strategy. Marketing, both of the company itself and of its products, is essential to any business’s continued existence. Therefore, marketing, whether in the form of conventional advertising or of more recent phenomena like network marketing, has become crucial to the success of every firm. Product, pricing, location, promotion, expense, risk, timeliness, and other aspects of marketing are not equivalent between the two models. From the producer to the final consumers, products in the conventional marketing system go via a number of intermediaries. The presence of so many outlets raises distribution prices. Furthermore, marketing is quite expensive. Network marketing is a subset of direct selling that has emerged as a solution for many companies by allowing them to sell directly to customers without the need for middlemen and by uncovering untapped markets. In network marketing, also known as multilevel marketing, word-of-mouth advertising is used to get items and services from the producer to the buyer. Over the past 18 years, India’s network marketing industry has grown to become a significant employer and one of the world’s fastest-growing marketing and distribution systems. Despite this success, the industry has been plagued by a negative public perception due to the activities of a small number of illegal businesses operating pyramid schemes or money-circulation scams. Investors and governments should thus be wary of its potentially troubling aspects and take appropriate measures to control them.
