ABSTRACT
On the morphology and cytology of Linum usitatissimum L., the influence of the chemical mutagen sodium azide (SA), the physical mutagen 7 rays, and combinations of 7-rays and sodium azide were investigated. For the morphological study, various parameters were chosen, including seed germination, plant survival, variation/mutation frequency, pollen fertility, mature plant height, days to flowering, days to maturity, number of fertile branches per plant, number of capsules per plant, number of seeds per capsule, 1000-seed weight, and total yield per plant. In MI, M2 and M3 generations, the cytological parameters univalents, multivalents precocious movement of chromosomes, stray chromosomes, stickiness, laggards, bridges, unequal separation of chromosomes, disturbed polarity, cytomixis, and chiasma frequency were taken into consideration for study. In M1 generation, variants were chosen from the treated populations based on their cyto-morphological differences from the control populations. The flowers were selfed, and the resulting seeds were seeded in the M2 generation, which allowed for in-depth research on the chosen mutants. Additionally, untreated seedlings were planted as a control group. Statistics were used to analyze the data.
