INVESTIGATING THE SENSATIONALIZATION AND ETHICAL CONCERNS IN MEDIA TRIALS BY TELEVISION NEWS CHANNELS

ABSTRACT

This research focuses on exploring the ethical concerns that arise in the media industry as a result of media trials. Media trial is a common phenomenon that can be seen in print media, electronic media, and even in social media too. Media is responsible for sharing information to the masses related to policies and other important decisions. This research is investigating about the ethical concerns that arise in the media industry due to media trials of certain cases. Media trial is the phenomenon where media investigate any ongoing case with the help of available data. Sometimes they even predict their verdict also though the case was still going on. The major objectives of this research are a) To investigate the ethical concerns stemming from media trials on television news channels and b) to comprehend the impact of sensationalized media trials on viewers.
To achieve the objectives researcher has conducted a survey with common viewers to understand their opinions.  The sample size of the survey is 100 selected through random sampling. The research is based on primary data and the data is analyzed to understand the mechanism of the media trial on television news channels.
