USE OF DOCUMENTARY FILMS FOR EDUCATING COLLEGE STUDENTS: A STUDY OF PERCEIVED EFFECT ON STUDENTS PERFORMANCE

ABSTRACT

The present research emphasizes on understanding the usage of documentary films in educating the college students. Usage of media for improving the educational awareness of the students is utilized by several academicians. This research is trying to investigate the perceived effects of the documentary films on students. The research was conducted by collecting the data through survey method. Researcher has conducted a survey with 80 college teachers comprises of media and non media teachers. The respondents were selected through judgment sampling which is a part of non-probability sampling technique. The primary objectives of this research are (a) To assess the extent to which college students perceive documentary films as an effective educational too (b) To examine the perceived impact of using documentary films on college students’ academic performance (c) To explore the factors that influence college students’ attitudes and engagement towards documentary films in an educational setting. To achieve the objectives researcher has collected the data through abovementioned tool and analyzed the collected data to test the hypothesis. The findings of the research are suggesting that the perception of the media teachers is more positive as compared to non media teachers. It was also found that media teachers are more inclined towards usage of documentary films for education as compared to non media teachers.
