Sudeb Mali, Dr. R.D. Bharati
Page No. : 502-505

ABSTRACT

Educating is a goal-oriented endeavour. Teaching is concerned with the process of modifying pupils’ behaviours in order to channel their intrinsic abilities. In India, teacher education programmes have existed for over a century. Teacher education refers to the policies and processes meant to provide teachers with the necessary information, attitudes, behaviours, and abilities to fulfil their school and classroom duties effectively. Every social sector in India has experienced remarkable expansion and progress since independence. The development of a society is contingent on the educational system’s dynamism. The nation’s planners, administrators, educators, and teachers are essential to the growth of its educational system. Teacher performance is the most important factor in schooling. Regardless of what policies are established, they must ultimately be interpreted and applied by instructors, both through their personal example and the teaching-learning processes. We are on the verge of developing new technologies that will likely change classroom instruction. We are currently confronted with the dilemma of having superior literature and research but increasingly apathetic professors. Over the years, teacher education has been significantly influenced by advancements in the area of education and in society as a whole. This report is the researcher’s attempt to examine post-independence policy pertaining to the teacher education system.
