The human race is afflicted with an illness with a terminal prognosis; the symptoms include unbridled greed, our irrational economic system, starvation, oil politics, global warming, selfish companies, and an incompetent government. The human race is slowly but surely destroying the life support systems of our one and only spaceship. The atmosphere and oceans of our planet, which are resources that we all must share, are in danger, and the damage may be irreversible. The slavish worship of technology will not deliver us from the insidious grasp of human nature. If we want to continue existing as a species, we need to accept the truth and work toward taming our baser instincts, such as the desire to amass wealth and pass on our genes to future generations. What we see is life through rose-colored glasses; we want a society with appropriate healthcare facilities, shelter, food, and water for everybody, but an equitable world cannot support as many people as are currently living on our planet. What we see is life through rose-colored glasses. If we don’t take action to limit our population, the shortage of resources will do it for us, and it will be a horrible death for all of us in the form of famines and plagues. In this paper, we will attempt to comprehend the fundamental concept of overpopulation as well as the potential effects it will have on the sustainability of existence.
