The Mid Day Meal Program (MDM) was established by the Indian government in order to increase school participation and improve nutritional status among primary school-aged children. It has been hypothesised that these enhancements would result in improved learning results for the students. Some recent studies, on the other hand, show a declining trend in participation in rural primary schools. In addition, studies have shown that children’s performance at reading, writing, and mathematics abilities has deteriorated (despite the fact that the MDM is provided on a daily basis in these schools). This necessitates a more thorough investigation of the function of the Mid Day Meal programme in boosting school engagement, improving nutritional status, and enhancing learning results for the children who benefit from it.
