Page No. : 95-102

ABSTRACT

Hinduism is the religion practiced by the inhabitants of India and the Indian subcontinent today. It is also a religious designation. It is a synthesis of many diverse spiritual traditions from the surrounding area. It does not have a distinct set of beliefs, unlike other religions. Most religions believe that Hinduism is the world’s oldest religion, yet no one in history is known to have founded it. Hinduism originated in several different locales and is most likely a synthesis of many diverse regional tribes’ beliefs. Hinduism has been traced back at least 5,000 years, according to historians. People used to believe that when the Aryans conquered the Indus Valley civilization and relocated to the banks of the Indus River approximately 1600 BCE, they introduced the core tenets of Hinduism to India. However, this view is now regarded to be incorrect, and many scholars believe that Hinduism formed among the people who lived in the Indus Valley area long before the Iron Age. The earliest items discovered in this area date back around 2000 BCE. They believe that the core principles of Hinduism originated in indigenous ceremonies and customs, but that they were also affected by ideas from outside the nation.
