PROBLEMS AND RECOMMENDATIONS FOR SKILL DEVELOPMENT IN INDIA

ABSTRACT

India is a country with a large young population. In terms of our country’s economic development, India is still lagging behind due to a variety of issues such as poverty, unemployment, illiteracy, medical infrastructure, and so on. The role of youth in establishing the country’s economic success is critical. The major goal of Skill India, a concept established by India’s Hon’ble Prime Minister Narendra Modi in March 2015, is to provide chances, space, and scope for Indian youth to develop their abilities. This initiative was started in order to provide training and skill development to the youth of all villages. In the current situation, it is discovered that the majority of educated youth are experiencing severe unemployment as a result of a lack of job opportunities. To support the concept of self-entrepreneurship through a skill development programme that provides creative technical skill training to the adolescent population. The government engages in a variety of events to boost youth creativity and instill leadership traits. However, some variances and loopholes have been discovered. The new strategy is to focus on job creation and youth without boredom. In this study, an attempt is made to identify the prospects for skill development programmes as well as the primary challenges that children experience in participating in government-sponsored skill development programmes.
