A SOCIOLOGICAL OUTLOOK OF FEMALE LITERACY IN BIHAR

ABSTRACT

India has progressed in education and literacy significantly since Independence. Similarly, Bihar has also progressed but still not as fast as national average in terms of literacy and more about female literacy. Bihar has the lowest literacy rate among all the states. This particular paper has made an attempt look into literacy rate of female population in Bihar with special reference to the sociological perspective. The society, development and culture of Bihar may have impact on the lowering of female literacy which is exposed and examined in the paper in following sections described below.
