A STUDY OF CHALLENGES FOR PRODUCTION AND MARKETING OF VEGETABLES OF FARMERS IN HARYANA

Dr. Vivek Chawla
Page No. : 58-65

ABSTRACT

India is the world’s second-largest producer of veggies, behind only China. In addition, India is the world’s top producer of a number of commonly consumed vegetables, such as potato, cauliflower, radish, onion, and tomato, among others. All major vegetables are produced in greater abundance in Haryana than in any other state in India despite the country’s status as a vegetable-producing powerhouse. Several regions of Haryana are responsible for cultivating the country’s most popular veggies, which contribute significantly to the country’s agricultural industry. The farmers, while being the second-largest vegetable-producing country in the world, confront some hurdles. If you’re producing or cultivating veggies, you’re not the only one facing these issues. Farmers in Haryana, in particular, confront difficulties as a result of a dearth of fundamental information. Because the farmers lack basic cultivating skills, they are unable to cultivate the veggies effectively. Additionally, farmers are ill-informed about how to market their produce, which makes it difficult for them to sell their goods. These aren’t their only problems; a lack of suitable storage facilities results in the loss of crops, and the rising cost of fertiliser makes it difficult for farmers to raise vegetables properly. These and other issues make it difficult for farmers to survive. It is difficult for farmers to grow veggies in a proper manner because of these issues. Additionally, the farmers face one of the biggest hurdles in growing vegetables, which is the manpower and seed shortages.
