Biju Theruvil Sayed & Dr. S.B.L. Tripathi
Page No. : 1-4

ABSTRACT

Artificial Intelligence (AI) is a branch of computer science, which focuses on the development of computer systems to simulate the processes of problem solving and duplicate human brain functions. It is the science and engineering of making intelligent machines, especially intelligent computer programs. It is related to the similar task of using computers to understand human intelligence, but AI does not have to confine itself to methods that are biologically observable. In artificial intelligence, an intelligent agent (IA) is an autonomous entity which observes and acts upon an environment (i.e. it is an agent) and directs its activity towards achieving goals (i.e. it is rational).Intelligent agents may also learn or use knowledge to achieve their goals. They may be very simple or very complex: a reflex machine such as a thermostat is an intelligent agent, as is a human being, as is a community of human beings working together towards a goal. The central problems of AI include such traits as reasoning, knowledge, planning, learning, Communication, perception and the ability to move and manipulate objects.
