A SURVEY OF URBAN AND RURAL LITERACY IN HARYANA

ABSTRACT

This study is about the trend of literacy which includes the gap between urban-rural literacy in Haryana State and India. This study examines the disparity and pattern of literacy among urban-rural literacy in Haryana at district level and during the survey this study reveals that in the year of 1971 India has been found the recorded highest gap between the literacy rate of rural and urban lives at different patterns of literacy. In the year 1971, Haryana was in backward condition at all patterns of literacy. But after 1971, there was is change has been observed in the condition of literacy of Haryana. During 2011 census, Rural Haryana was at its highest level in literacy. There was a decrease in the literacy gap among rural and urban. In Haryana, Mewat is district is very backward in literacy at almost all levels. It is similar to the southern and western districts of Punjab.
