The present research paper seeks to examine the conceptual dimensions of the interim measures to be ordered by court and the arbitral tribunal under section 9 and 17 of the Arbitration and Conciliation Act 1996. The topics like discretionary powers of the court; appointment of a guardian; the preservation, interim custody or sale of any goods; securing the amount in dispute; the detention, preservation or inspection of any property and interim injunction or the appointment of a receiver have also been discussed. The legislative and judicial trends have also been examined in the academic and applied aspects.
