CONTRIBUTION OF WOMEN IN AGRICULTURAL SECTOR AND IN ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT

ABSTRACT

Agriculture is one of the important sector of any country which is the basic requirement for the prosperity and growth of the country. The agriculture sector is the backbone of the economy in the developing countries, which supply food and provide employment to the majority of the population. In our society, male play an active role in different areas of agriculture, role of women in agriculture has not been recognized. But women play a pivotal role in agricultural and rural economy in all developing countries. The roles played by rural women and their position in meeting the challenges of agricultural production and development are quiet dominant. Agricultural sector has an extraordinary significance in Indian economy just as to the economy of Haryana State. Participation of women in agricultural sector is dynamic as agricultural worker, cultivators and house creators.
