RELEVANCE, ASSESSMENT AND LIBRARY CONSORTIA TO E-RESOURCES IN MODERN ERA: AN OVERVIEW

ABSTRACT

Tremendous developments in ICT in 21st Century have given amazing boost to electronic publishing. E-resources are the wave of the future. The easy handling, small size, customization and anywhere anytime accesses of e-resources are some of the features that users love to exercise and explore. E-resources forms the integral component of the collection in the libraries giving rise to a shift from print to non-print, books  to e-books, journals to e-journals, e-consortiums, web-portals, e-databases etc. This paper consists of  introduction of e-resources, e-resources in libraries,  types of e-resources, features of e-resources, importance, assessment , Issues and Challenges, Consortia subscription to e-resources, conclusion and some references are given at the end.
