The present study found that the another community of medicinal plants still exists that are highly significant but have not yet been documented in literature, which have historically been used in the local ethnic herbal system. As above, Roylea cinerea is one of the major herbal plants that has proved to be traditionally accepted. It is a medicinal plant of great importance in the region. The plant’s leaves and extract is used for the treatment of diabetes in the cure of sugar, while local Vaidya also prescribes decoction as a medicine for the cure of fever, jaundice, skin diseases and malaria. The leaf extract has demonstrated analgesic activity, reduces engine activity and is relaxing. Diterpenoids viz calyons, calynones and precolyones are contained in the aerial portion of the plant. Precalyone is reported to have P-332 lymphocytic leukemia antitumor activity. Although other properties are well recognized, the anti-diabetic property of the plant remains unexplored and totally unknown outside the region. This was why Roylea cinerea has been selected for further study in the current investigation and its various characters have been investigated in order to popularize this plant and grow it in future. The plant in its habitat must be studied to understand its environmental requirements for successful introduction and cultivation. The local situation was also merged in order to achieve national goals and policies. At the beginning of this study, a reasonable survey was carried out to determine the herbal compounds of herbal formulations sold locally in drug stores that were commonly prescribed. In and around Srinagar town in Uttarakhand, many drug stores have been visited. A full list of herbs from Ayurvedic and Homoeopathic medicines has been prepared.
