FACEBOOK AND TEENAGE EMOTIONS: A SOCIOLOGICAL PERSPECTIVE

ABSTRACT

Facebook is where all the teens are hanging out now. It can be the online version of the locker room, school hallway, or bus stop, too, with all of the good, fun things that go on, but all of the negative, too. In this paper, I have conducted Non-probability sampling, which includes ‘Purposive sampling’ and ‘Snow-ball sampling’ with a sample size of fifty respondents, twenty five males & twenty five females in order to understand the impact of Facebook on the emotions of teenagers in Kolkata. This paper concludes that Facebook has become an integral part of our lives. Without it people can hardly find any way to connect with others. Though connecting with friends is the good side of Facebook, but addiction is its negative side.
