The aim of the investigation is to study the gender differences in Emotional Intelligence and Psychological Distress between adolescent boys and girls. A total sample of 120 (n=60 boys and n=60 girls) adolescents belonging to an age group of 15-17 years of Government schools in Polba of Hooghly district of West Bengal state was taken on random basis. Emotional Intelligence Test (Chadha & Singh, 1995) and General Health Questionnaire-30 (Goldberg & Williams, 2006) were used to measure these variables. Significant gender differences were found in emotional maturity and anxiety. Distress correlated negatively with Emotional Intelligence.
