EXISTENTIAL CRISIS OF FEMALE CHARACTERS PORTRAYED IN THE NOVELS OF ANITA DESAI

ABSTRACT

Anita Desai delineates how Indian society’s predefined norms had adverse affect on women. In this explication I have made a modest attempt to show the exploitation of women and its effect on women psychology in the novels of Anita Desai. In many of her novels Anita Majumdar Desai portrayed the plight of women in male dominating society. Through her characters depiction Anita Desai represents the suppression and oppression of Indian Women in Patriarchal society.
