ABSTRACT
In India, the availability of clean water is a significant challenge, especially in rural areas where infrastructure for water supply and treatment is often inadequate. The city of Shahdol, located in the state of Madhya Pradesh, is an example of a rural city facing water scarcity. The Shahdol Water Treatment Plant plays a vital role in providing drinking water to the local population by treating water received from the Sarfa River. The Sarfa River, originating in the Maikal Hills of Madhya Pradesh, flows through diverse landscapes before joining the Son River. Like many rivers in India, the Sarfa River faces challenges such as pollution from industrial effluents, agricultural runoff, and urban wastewater discharge. These factors contribute to the variability of water quality, which presents operational challenges for the Shahdol Water Treatment Plant.
